Mary's Pet scores at 14/1 for ProSelect members

On paper the second race on the card at Southwell yesterday was nothing to get excited about. But in a little over a minute after the stalls opened, Redd Racing ProSelect members were certainly excited - about collecting on a 14/1 winner!

Racing all weather

It was a rock-bottom 0-55 sprint handicap in which the first four came right away. MARY´S PET had shown nothing since winning off 1lb higher at Chepstow last August and this was her Fibresand debut, but she has continued to slide down the weights and was7lb lower than for her last win on Polytrack. The key to this success, however, was the positive ride and, once sent into a clear lead at halfway, none of her rivals were able to get anywhere near her.

Trainer Lee Carter said: "Mary´s Pet has never run here, but she´s done it well and I thought if she could get out and get across I thought she´d take some pegging back."
