Sugar Ray punch drunk

No one can deny my talent for picking horses to lose their race is truly outstanding at the moment. Great news for the Lay Bets account, but quite unacceptable for those of you following my back-to-win selections I have to admit. Whilst the lay bets returned a 5 point profit today, it was another disappointing afternoon backing horses to win. I had three selections all go down, before a single winner in Allied Powers at Newbury. Despite managing to get matched at 9/4 this still left me with a loss for the day.

I was confident Sugar Ray would not live up to his billing as race favourite this afternoon at York. He lined up to contest a class 2 Heritage Handicap over 12 furlongs, with his best winning form to date being two classes lower. To win today would require a career-best performance and I was willing to lay bets for three points at 7/2 or shorter. He was sent off the 3/1F and could only manage third place. My other lay bet also lost to land me another 2 points profit.

So despite continuing bad form with my win bets, I still managed to add more than 4 points profit to the account overall today.
