Thursday horse racing summary
A good day for profit, due solely to a couple of successful lay bets. My two proposed win bets at Goodwood both lost and I was relying on my lay bets to ensure we avoided a losing day.
I had a big bet against Royalist in the Halifax Handicap at Chester. With only a win in a class 4 maiden under his belt it was going to be a big 'ask' to expect a win first time out in handicap company and racing in a higher class. Yet the market made him a 9/4 favourite. I was prepared to go against him for 5 points, and after setting off too fast he faded badly coming home. I also scored another successful lay bet against Albaraari at Goodwood for an extra point.
A profit of 4 points by the end of the afternoon.
