Just what the Doctor ordered

A frustrating day for the Win Bet account as from four bets we saw three get placed but no winners, which are what pay the bills. I still achieved a profitable day overall however, thanks to two successful Lay Bets.

Both horses were running at Newmarket, and first I got the 6/4 favourite Pipedreamer overturned for 2 points. Then I was going fairly heavily against Doctor Fremantle in the final race, a class 3 handicap. The horse had only competed in class 4 maiden races to date, so today he was both stepping up in class and running in handicap company for the first time. He would also be running over a distance beyond his furthest to date. The horse was obviously well fancied but the fact still remained he would have to show great improvement to score a win today, and I was willing to lay bets against him for 5 points if the price went below 11/4 The horse was eventually sent off at a meagre 11/8F and came home second.

And so the 7 points profit gained by the lay bets offset the other four losing bets, to give me a net profit of 3 points.
