I didn't Envisage this winning
By the end of the afternoon I was 1 point better off than this morning. We had two non-runners, but the remaining two bets produced a winner in Telegonus, who cruised to victory beating the 6/5F The weight of money for the favourite pushed the price of my selection out, so we got excellent value about the winner.
I took on the favourite Envisage for the maiden at Nottingham. It was the horse's debut, and the first time he would have set foot on a public race-course. The fact that it was a Godolphin horse partnered by Frankie Dettori helped keep the price down to our advantage, but at the end of the day no-body knows for sure how a horse will react and perform first time out. 6/4 was short enough and I layed bets against him. I was wrong to do so on this occassion, but at such a low price the wrong decision was an inexpensive one.
