Saturday horse racing summary
A small profit today, but a profit all the same. I had two back-to-win selections and Hadaf was returned a winner at 4/1
My only lay bet was Malt Or Mash running in a class 3 handicap at Newmarket. His best performance to date had been a win in a class 4 handicap off an Official Rating of 84 He has been tried in class 2 company with little impact. Although dropping down in class today, he was up in trip compared to his winning run, and also racing off a 7lb higher mark. I felt he would be worth taking on at 7/2 or below, and I was able to lay bets at 5/2 He justified favouritism by winning, but I would still lay him again at that price. If that race was run 100 times I am positive Malt Or Mash would not win 28% of the time - which is what the price of 5/2 implies.
